Who We Are
Serving Southern Baptist Churches in Central California
The Mid-Valley Southern Baptist Association serves as a regional hub connecting Baptist churches in the Fresno area to broader SBC missions, resources, and cooperative programs. We come alongside churches - not to direct them, but to encourage and equip them.
As Associational Missions Strategist Greg Kilgore puts it: “Southern Baptists are at our best when we work together to send missionaries, train pastors, plant, replant, and revitalize churches in order to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth.”

What Drives Us
Five Core Priorities
Everything we do flows from these five commitments - a framework for how we serve and strengthen Southern Baptist churches in Central California.
1. Church Starting
Birthing new congregations to extend the reach of the Gospel into uncharted territories - planting, replanting, and revitalizing churches across Central California.
2. Church Health
Ensuring existing churches thrive and remain steadfast in their spiritual mission, providing resources and support for lasting congregational health.
3. Pastor & Leadership Development
Nurturing the growth of individuals who guide and inspire their congregations through training, mentorship, and a local cohort of pastors within the association.
4. Missions & Ministries
Enabling service and engagement with local and global communities through partnerships with the North American Mission Board and the International Mission Board.
5. Fellowship & Encouragement
Fostering unity and mutual support among churches through annual events, connections to the California Southern Baptist Convention, and the national SBC.

VBS Workshop 2026
Theme: Illumination Station - John 8:12
Hands-on training for church leaders, teachers, and volunteers preparing for Vacation Bible School. 9am - 2pm at New Life Baptist Church, Fresno.
Time Until Workshop
Pastors’ and Wives’ Retreat
Shore Cliff Hotel, Pismo Beach
An annual retreat for full-time pastoral staff and their spouses. Two nights, ministry sessions, worship, and fellowship. Limited to 40 couples at $100/couple.

Education Grant
Women’s Scholarship Fund
The Mid-Valley Southern Baptist Association offers a $100 annual grant to assist women serving in ministry who attend a Southern Baptist Seminary. Applicants must be members of an MVSBA church.
